Our new cabinets!!! They are far lighter than what we had before. We went with a light oak. Real oak, not that cheap pressed wood crap. The wall you see on the left didn't have any cabinets, and the fridge was at the end of that wall where you can see the side of what is now a pantry. In the center is an island that will be 4x4 ft when the counters are on with space to eat sitting on short bar stools. The empty space you see in the back is where the stove and microwave hood will be.
The new tile going down on our kitchen floor is travertine. It is a stone, but I have no idea where it comes from, or anything. Okay, now I've looked it up. A decade ago, Italy had a monopoly on travertine sales, but now it is coming from Turkey, Mexico, Peru and the USA. It is a calcium carbonate deposit from water. I love wikipedia!!!
